Young Hearts Run Free are bringing back David Thomas Broughton back to Ireland, the hugely acclaimed musician, and artist – who is astonishing live, and who hasn’t played in Ireland since 2013.
Support on the night comes from Sligo’s own brilliant Myles Manley
A little bit on DTB
Over the past few years, David Thomas Broughton has been making waves with his unique and distinct approach to music. When Broughton performs it’s a story of incompletion and insecurity. As his songs ponder the difficulties of relationships, the awkwardness of emotion, he plays the same games with the audience. A pause mid-song to brush off his knee, or to rearrange his belongings on the floor: Layers of melody are slowly built, soar, whistle then fizzle as does a kettle on a stove.
Reviews for DTB:
“Arguably the most staggering live musician in the country” MOJO
“Broughton’s live shows are miniature spectacles: He roams through the crowd and uses furniture as percussion. He layers sounds in slightly haphazard ways, as though his songs weren’t so holy that he couldn’t subject them to chance” Pitchfork
“The most brilliant and baffling show I’m likely to see this year” Time Out New York
“The singer who serenades sausages.” – The Guardian
