Two of Dublin’s most World Cup obsessed bands are teaming for a night that will rival in drama and skill whatever corporate bunfight FIFA will serve up in the Lužniki the week before.
Lamont/Bailey/Wall arrive at this gig on the back of a successful season which culminated in the digital release of their first album BOOM! and an extremely hot gig in Anseo this past June. The end result of five years work, BOOM! is an album that explores the perpetual vicissitudes of capitalism in Dublin, but is also a record to soundtrack the best parties or Goal of the Month montages if so inclined.
Crack Dublin outfit Autre Monde is a supergroup drawing star players from across the Popical Island Universe, including Paddy Hanna on vocals, Mark Chester (signed from Ginnels for €11m) on guitar, Eoghan O’Brien (year long loan from No Monster Club) on drums, and Pádraig Cooney (arrived on a free transfer from Land Lovers) on bass and not singing. One of the city’s best bands, they released a swoon-worthy self-titled EP last winter and have made vague promises about a new release this October.
